What Happened Today?

Talking Technically:

Every Wednesday, Tom and Erin start the show off with important earnings announcements, economic news and developing news in the major markets. After today's first market update, Erin spotlighted GE which has been in a nose dive. Both agreed that they would not touch it with a ten foot pole as either a short or buy despite possible support arriving in the longer term.

Tom enlightened the audience on recent economic reports. Today, he let us all know that the Producer Price Index (PPI) of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released results. According to Bloomberg, "A strong and welcome price gain for services fed an unexpectedly strong producer price report for October where the headline 0.4 percent exceeds Econoday's consensus for 0.1 percent and high estimate for 0.3 percent. The gain holds at 0.4 percent when excluding food and energy and falls to 0.2 percent when excluding trade services."

Momentum Sleepers:  Today, Erin and Tom talked about what they consider momentum sleepers. Erin had a group of about six charts (PGRE, UVE, FCE/A, FTNT, IRM, SPHD, KO, SNPS and M&MFIN.IN) that are available in the MarketWatchers ChartList. Here were some of her favorites:

Ten in Ten Before One: In this regular segment, Tom reviews ten charts in ten minutes with Erin's comments and comments from the Twitter "peanut gallery" peppered in there. Send in your symbol requests via Twitter (@mktwatcherslive) before the show and we'll try and add them. Symbols reviewed today: SM, COP, GSY.TO, IMGN, ALLY, GBTC, NVCR, EFX, WDC and GIII.   You'll find all of the charts in the MarketWatchers LIVE ChartList, located at the top of the MarketWatchers blog homepage.

SCTR Report: Tom and Erin showed viewers the various ways to find "SCTR movers" using the SCTR Report in the member dashboard, the SCTR ranking tile and via a simple scan. For more information, be sure and check out the replay!
