What Happened Today?

Everything StockCharts with Bill Shelby:

Today Bill enlightened us on how to use the new ChartList summary on the Member dashboard. He explained the ins and outs of adding this new "tile" to your dashboard and how you can sort it and use it to keep track of your watch lists or portfolio. Instead of having to go into your ChartLists to find out the latest information on your symbols, you can now see it right on the dashboard. This segment was first, so watch the first part of the show for more examples. Below is a picture of what the new ChartLists panel looks like on the member homepage.

Copper and Mining Stocks by Greg Schnell: It was great to have Greg as co-host today and we took full advantage of his expertise. He did a fantastic presentation on copper and mining stocks, discussing not only the charts, but the hoopla surrounding copper right now with the advent of electric cars that need four times more copper than a regular gas powered car. Below are his slides:

Ten in Ten Before One: In this regular segment, Tom reviews ten charts in ten minutes with Erin's comments and comments from the Twitter "peanut gallery" peppered in there. Send in your symbol requests via Twitter (@mktwatcherslive) before the show and we'll try and add them. If we missed them this show, we have many of them in the queue for Monday. Symbols reviewed today: ABT, WDC, BZUN, YINN, SLX, ENB.TO, SRNE, MRK and YY.   You'll find all of the charts in the MarketWatchers LIVE ChartList, located at the top of the MarketWatchers blog homepage.

SCTR Report: It was great to have Greg in to examine and help us to understand the StockCharts Technical Ranking (a link to ChartSchool is at the bottom of this recap) and the SCTR Report that can be reached from the Member Control Center panel. He showed us how to number them, un-number them, sort by various columns, etc. Then he reviewed a few that he has his eye on. Erin demonstrated how to use the "SCTR" view from the "Market Movers" panel on your homepage. This segment began around 1:10p, so you can review it there.

Mailbag Segment: Greg discussed that the trades he looks at in the commodities arena as more short- to intermediate-term trades rather than buy and holds. Erin showed us how to create a CandleGlance ChartStyle and how to steal one by clicking on a chart that you like and opening it in your charting workbench. You can save the ChartStyle as your "default" if that is what you always want to see when a new chart is retrieved. She also showed us where to find contributors' ChartStyles if you want to quickly use those. The main thing is to create the look you want and then save it as your default. If you want a certain style in CandleGlance mode, set up the chart with what you'd like to see and then save that ChartStyle as "CandleGlance".

Looking Forward:

Tune in on Wednesday at 12:00p - 1:30p EST on 12/13 for a guest appearance by Arthur Hill. He will also be filling in for Tom as co-host with Erin!
