David England: Buy Recommendation II

It is time for another "best of breed" books that make great gifts for investors and traders. My heart is in financial education, with the goal "to teach my students how to make better-educated financial decisions.

It is rare to find a book focusing on options that is not condescending or over technical. Years ago, I ran across an author with this ability – Mr. Michael Sincere and his book Understanding Options 2E.  Sincere is a full-time columnist for MarketWatch and author of numerous books, including Understanding Stocks, All About Market Indicators, Predict the Next Bull or Bear Market and Win, and Start Day Trading Now.

I used this book when teaching my stock market classes at John A. Logan College. I evaluated many, many options books but always returned to this book. Why? Sincere’s ability to make very technical information easy to grasp and implement plus explain the fundamental principles of the option trading process. The authors writing style is very easy to read and follow, from detailing the basics to introducing advanced options strategies.

This second edition of Understanding Options focuses on many subjects including; overcoming option anxiety, LEAPS, and the Greeks. In addition, advanced strategies are covered including; protective and married puts, collars, credit and debit spreads, writing cash-secured puts, straddles, strangles, iron condors, calendar spreads, butterfly spreads plus many more.

I agree and identify with the author on; targeting mistakes to avoid, how to limit risk and trade within your means, and not gamble away your house or retirement nest egg

The bottom line; as a basic options book for beginners or a refresher for the seasoned option trader, I highly recommend this book.

Next week, we analyze last week’s chart to see if my trading system was accurate and signaled the current sell-off.  The results will be interesting!

Plan your work, work your plan and learn to share your harvest!
