Using Your Basic Favorites
What Are The Benefits Of Being A Basic Subscriber?
StockCharts.com offers two levels of subscription service: Basic and Extra!. Both offer very valuable services for technical analysis, though Extra! users have full access to our powerful features.
Basic users are provided access to the key features of our site. They can:
- Save up to 100 charts in an online Favorites list
- Create three sets of personalized ChartStyles
- Create intraday charts with up to five days of data
- Add up to nine price overlays and indicator panels to any SharpChart
- Create and store Point and Figure charts
- Use our standard stock scan engine
At any time, Basic subscribers can upgrade to Extra! service or can subscribe to The Market Message. One of the most useful and utilized Basic subscriber features is the Favorites List, which is the subject of this manual.
Your Basic Favorites are a great way to save and organize the charts you view frequently. You can save, modify or delete charts from your Favorites List at any time, and can even access your Favorites from another computer. What's more, you can view all the charts in your list on a single page in groups of 10 for easy reference. Almost all serious technical analysts have preferred formats and watched stocks, and the Favorites List provides a user-friendly way to manage these preferences.

Managing My Favorites List
Every Basic account comes with one Favorites List that you can fill with up to 100 charts. It does not come with any predefined charts, so you must first add your own favorites to the list. You'll need to add at least one SharpChart to the list before you can view the list properly.
Charting pages such as SharpCharts or Point & Figure Charts allow you to modify your favorites directly from the page. There are two ways to utilize your favorites from these pages.
Method 1: Favorites can be quickly accessed or added by using the dropdown menu to the right of the ticker box.
- To access a chart from your favorites list, simply select it from the dropdown menu.
- To save a chart to your Favorites list, click the Add New link below the Favorites dropdown list above the chart. Enter the chart name in the pop-up window.
You can also scroll through your Favorites by using the blue right/left arrows above the chart.
Method 2: Another way to manage your favorites is through the links provided at the bottom of the page.
- Add Current Chart functions the same as the dropdown box near the top of the page. Enter a chart description into the dialog box that appears or simply press "OK" to accept the suggested description. This selection can also be used to rename a chart.
- Save Changes allows you to modify the name and settings of a chart already saved to your favorites list. Be sure the chart you want to modify is up on the page, make your changes, then press "Save Changes".
- Delete functions the same as the dropdown box near the top of the page. Simply press "OK" to delete the current chart from your favorites.
- Apply Style to All allows the user to apply the style of the current chart to all favorite charts.
Viewing My Favorite Charts
There are a couple of ways to view your Favorites list. First, you can view the charts one-by-one using the SharpCharts tool as explained above. The second way is to view them in 10-per-page mode. To access the 10-per-page mode, you can either click the Your Favorite Charts link located in the Basic Control Center, or click the View All Favorites link under the Favorites List dropdown on the SharpCharts tool.
All the charts in 10-per-page mode will be displayed in alphabetical order of the chart name. To scroll through your charts use the « Prev | Next » navigation links at the top left and bottom left of the page.
From the display pages, you can edit each chart, add or edit comments to it, and view other chart types for the same ticker symbol.
- Rename: Modify the name of the chart as it appears in the Favorites List.
- Edit: Opens the chart in a regular SharpCharts page. (You can also click on the chart to open it as an editable SharpChart.)
- Edit Comments: Add a personal note or comment underneath the chart. You can enter a maximum of 2,000 characters.
- Remove: Deletes the chart from the Favorites List.
- Other Charts: View another chart type for the current ticker symbol.
Note: You can only save a graphical P&F chart to your Favorites List.
