Trend Analysis
Following are three charts, (daily, weekly, and hourly) for each of UUP, HUV.TO together with 9 pairs (Bull and Bear) of double leveraged Cdn ETFs. The timing signal to buy or sell these ETFs is almost always exactly the same for an equivalent US ETF for the same underlying index or commodity. The timing signal to buy a bull or sell a bear generally occurs at the same time and the timing is usually the same whether the ETF is not leveraged, or double or triple leveraged. Only the speed of the move and the risk increases with increased leverage.
Vertical dashed blue lines show the buy signal and vertical dashed black lines indicated the time to sell. These lines are most up-to-date and best maintained on the hourly charts .
Buy/sell decisions are best made after the market close and I hold ETFs for several days to several weeks based on the criteria I use.
I maintain a spreadsheet scoring each ETF to determine my own actual buys and sells together with stop-loss setting, risk/reward calculations, and some seasonality information . 'Use at Your Own Risk!!!'
