Its VLCCs transport crude oil from the Middle East Gulf to the Far East, northern Europe, the Caribbean, and the Louisiana offshore oil port. The company?s Suezmax tankers are used for trading mainly in the Atlantic Basin. Its OBO carriers transport oil and dry cargo. The company also engages in the charter, purchase, and sale of vessels, as well as transportation of crude oil and oil products cargoes.
Golar LNG Limited., through its subsidiaries engages in the acquisition, ownership, operation, and chartering of natural gas (LNG) carriers. As of December 31, 2003, it leased seven LNG carriers under long-term leases, owned an eighth vessel, and had a 60% interest in another LNG carrier through a joint venture with the Chinese Petroleum Corporation, the Taiwanese state oil and gas company.
