As U.S. stocks have been grinding sideways, with a slightly bullish drift, a significant shift has been underway, just out of focus.
To elaborate, Developed Markets and Eurozone stocks have been quietly trending higher.
If you missed this ascent, you’re not alone. When we watch the U.S. stock market, which has been the place to invest for the last 15 years, it’s not uncommon to lose sight of other markets. But things have changed, and, with economics, trade, and geopolitics taking center stage, investors have been looking elsewhere for a place to park their cash.
The data from our Market Summary page clearly illustrates this trend.
 As you can see, Developed Markets and the Eurozone have enjoyed a nine-week up streak (see weekly streak column). Compare that to the Total US (VTI)’s two-week up streak.
Are you one of the lucky ones who spotted these trends? If so, congratulations on your sharp eye! If not, you may get another chance. Both categories are ripe for a pullback and could present an opportunity for you to “buy the dip,” as long as there’s momentum for upside follow-through.
But there’s more to extract from the screenshot. Emerging Markets and Asia (ex Japan) have had a five-day up streak. Could they be next in line for an upward move? These are a few of the useful nuggets that can unlock investment opportunities.
Regularly monitoring the Market Summary page in StockCharts is like having a powerful radar, alerting you to critical price action across different areas of the global financial market. My experience taught me a valuable lesson: if I hadn’t clicked on the Global Snapshot tab in the Equities panel, the 9 Up in the Weekly Streak column for Developed Markets and the Eurozone would have slipped by.
