Commodities Countdown

Commodities Countdown Video Recording 2017-09-28

The Commodities Countdown Video Recording has been posted for September 28th, 2017.

The expected move in the US Dollar is underway. While that is causing some turbulence in the metals area, the crude oil area continues to look robust. There is lots of commentary on both of those.

One of the big areas that finally showed its hand was the bond market. This has big implications for the fourth quarter and it looks to me that all the confirming signals also moved.

Lastly, this sets up some big dynamics. With the Transports breaking out in both rails and trucking, this looks too bullish to ignore. All of this sets the stage for a strong fourth quarter.

Commodities Countdown Video Recording With Greg Schnell 2017-09-07

Here is this week's Commodities Countdown for September 7, 2017. Lots of action in precious metals and energy.

The energy sector has lots of appealing charts. At the end of June, almost the entire sector had SCTR rankings below 25. Now lots of the stocks have SCTR levels above 75, suggesting they are some of the strongest moving price charts. Gold and Silver are due for a rest here, but a good strategy might be to focus on these precious metals charts over the next few months to find very attractive buy points.

I will also be presenting the Market Outlook with Tom Bowley on Saturday September 9th, 2017 @ 11:00 AM EDT. Click here to register.

Oil drifted lower on Hurricane Harvey impacts. Gasoline and Diesel Fuel threaten some multi-year trend lines. There are some very small positive divergences setting up in the energy space and the video goes into detail about energy in a big way this week.

Commodity Countries Try To Rotate To Leadership

Julius's de Kempenaer's RRG charts do a great job of visualizing the market rotation. The falling $USD made most investments in foreign markets do well. Some foreign markets have been dropping for three months in local currencies (France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia) but the charts priced in US Dollars made them look stellar.

With the dollar stabilizing the last few weeks, these foreign markets have fallen out of the leadership quadrant into the weakening quadrant. Japan is still in the green quadrant but pointed down. The Nikkei ($NIKK) made new 3-month lows on Monday in the local currency. The European markets have moved from leading to weakening. The real question is can they turn back up here?
