In this edition of StockCharts TV's Sector Spotlight, to kick off the month of July, I dive into the status of the long-term trends as they are unfolding on the monthly charts. The main message from the asset classes is that the bond market is clear: Corporate- and High-Yield bond issuers need to pay up for investors to be interested in buying their bonds. This is pushing yields up across the board and bond prices down.

The S&P remains in a downtrend on the monthly time frame, and there are only a few sectors left in uptrends. To no one's surprise, these are the defensives. The most significant move came from the Materials sector, which completed a big top formation and is now rapidly moving lower.
