A Cure For the Hiccups

 |

Last September the website had a hiccup.  Well...  "hiccup" may not be the correct word.  A couple of people working in a manhole outside of our offices managed to damage our new Gigabit Fiber connection, taking the site offline and forcing us back onto our slower T3 circuits while the damage was repaired.  Later in the month, we had a router fail.  It was a bad month.

At the time, I promised you that I'd get a second Gigabit Fiber connection installed so that if we ever suffered such a failure again, it would not impact the website.

While it took a little longer than we originally hoped, I'm happy to report that our second Fiber Gigabit connection is now installed and working.  In fact, late Friday evening, we conducted a successful test of the new circuit's failover feature.  I physically disconnected our primary Gigabit circuit and watched as the site traffic automatically switched to the backup circuit without any data being lost.

Bottom Line: StockCharts.com's connection to the Internet is now bigger and better than it has ever been!  You can see our uptime scores from Pingdom.com have been 100% ever since September.  We're working hard to make sure that continues.

Great job with the upgrades and the pure honesty that you've displayed throughout. I'm only a "recreational trader" (1-2 trades/week), but I can't imagine a better combination of features and customer service than what stockcharts.com has provided over the last 4 years. Cheers, Rob
Chip, Reliability has always been the trademark of SC. You got us back up in September quickly, you were >>transparent throughout<< [something other sites could learn from] and you took September as a challenge to fail safe the system. A sub can't ask for anything more. Best regards, Louis
Great job fixing the data connection problem and keeping traders/investors well informed.
