Working with CandleGlance charts

 |
CandleGlance charts provide an effective means to quickly view numerous charts and select prospects for further analysis. The Free Charting Service at Stockcharts.com allows users to view CandleGlance charts and single out individual charts for further inspection. Users with Basic Charting Service or higher can view create a specific CandleGlance list, annotate individual charts and save these to their list. Click here to see the different subscription options. This article will show an easy way to select individual charts for further analysis, save the annotations and return to the same spot in the CandleGlance list.

Users can select an existing list for CandleGlance view or create a new list. Above a SharpChart, click the “view all” link and then the “create new list” link to choose a name for your new list. Once the name is chosen, navigate to the bottom of the ChartList Properties page to “add tickers from” a specific list of symbols. As the image below shows, stock symbols from the Nasdaq 100, Dow Industrials, S&P 600 SmallCap Index and other groups can be added. Make a selection and click “add” to finish the process.

A list called “stocks-ndx” was created in the example below. Now select “edit” to trigger the drop-down box and choose “CandleGlance” to view the Nasdaq 100 stocks. Users can change the duration and even add indicators (MACD, RSI, CCI, On Balance Volume and many others).

Now comes the fun part. One CandleGlance page shows up to 30 stocks. This makes it easy to quickly scroll through a list of charts and make selections for further analysis. To select a chart, users can click on the CandleGlance chart to open a bigger chart in the current window. Alternatively, users can hover over the selected chart and right click to see other options. The chart can then be opened in another tab to see details and annotate. After finishing and saving this chart, close the tab and you will be right back where you left off on your CandleGlance charts.
