Measure Relative Strength and Rotations for Sector Mutual Funds with Fidelity, Rydex and Profunds

 |

StockCharts.com covers the Rydex family of mutual funds and these are readily available in a Market Carpet. In particular, chartists can quickly hone in on the 17 sector funds for a quick overview of the market. Even if you are not a Rydex trader, comparing the performance of 17 sector funds provides valuable information on group rotations within the market. Here are the steps to get to the 17 sector funds. First, click the link for the Rydex Mutual Fund MarketCarpet. This can be found on the Free Charts page at the bottom of the third column. This MarketCarpet shows four Rydex Mutual Fund groups. Click on the “sector funds” tab to focus exclusively on this group.

The next graphic shows the MarketCarpet with just the 17 Rydex Sector Funds. Notice that the two energy-related funds are the top performers over the last 45 days. Precious Metals, Telecom and Electronics are the three worst performing sector funds. Click the ends of the slider (bottom) to adjust the date range and measure performance for different periods. The same techniques can be applied to MarketCarpets for Fidelity Mutual Funds and ProFund Mutual Funds.
