Microsoft: Add-ons for Internet Explorer Cause Majority of Problems

 |

Earlier this week, Microsoft published a White Paper entitled "Enhancing the performance of Windows Internet Explorer 8" which contains the following quote:

"Add‐ons cause most browser crashes, accounting for over 70% of Internet Explorer 8’s crashes. Slowdowns in Internet Explorer 8 are very often caused by add-ons -- especially when you open a new browser window or tab."

The article also includes a list of the most popular IE8 add-ons:

TopIE8Plugins

This information reinforces my post from yesterday.  Browser add-ons can cause problems.  Toolbars steal your vertical pixels, can cause performance issues and are the primary cause of crashes in IE8. Get rid of your extra toolbars and you will enjoy a better web experience.
