We are removing the "Snapshot Charts" feature of our Extra service. (If you are asking yourself "What's a Snapshot Chart?" then you can skip the rest of this post.)
Snapshot Charts were originally intended to be our "Sharing" service back in the days before Facebook, Blogs and Twitter. Unfortunately, they never really were implemented or explained correctly and they have received little use as a result. For example, over the past week, we've served out 539 Snapshot charts, compared to over 45 million live SharpCharts charts.
Now that we've released our new "Share" feature which allows you to post copies on charts on popular blogging and social networks websites, we are going to focus on maintaining and improving that ability and we are going to remove the redundant "Snapshot Charts" feature.
Today, we've removed the ability to create snapshots from ChartNotes meaning that you can no longer create new Snapshot charts.
If you want to save a chart as a snapshot, you can simply right-click on the chart and select "Save Picture As..." or "Save Image to..." from the dropdown menu that appears. That will create a snapshot of the chart on your computer's hard disk.
At the end of this month (i.e. on May 1st), we will remove the Snapshots ChartList where Snapshot Charts are stored.
IF YOU HAVE LOTS OF SNAPSHOT CHARTS IN YOUR ACCOUNT THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP, YOU WILL NEED TO COPY THEM ONTO YOUR COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE BEFORE MAY 1st.
To copy a Snapshot Chart onto your computer's hard drive:
1.) Login to your account.
2.) Scroll down to the bottom of the "Members" page and click on the "10-per-page" link that's next to "Snapshots"
3.) Locate the chart(s) you want to save in the list.
4.) Right-click on the chart and select "Save Image to..." or "Save Picture as..." from the popup menu that appears.
5.) Specify a location on your hard disk and click "OK"
Again, our new "Share" feature lets you post copies of your charts directly on to popular web services like Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and many others. We hope that you find the "Share" feature much more useful.
