Basic 2.0 - More Value for Our Basic Members

 |

Last week we rolled out "Extra 2.0" which provided additional value to our Extra members for free.  It doubled the amount of chart storage space that Extra members have.  It also increased our Scan Engine's data update time during the day to "near real-time" (i.e. less than 1 minute) and provided several additional UI Improvements.  (We still have a couple of other improvements to roll out in the next couple of week also.)

So Extra members have gotten a lot of additional capability for free, but what about Basic members?

This coming weekend we will be rolling out "Basic 2.0" - a huge increase in capabilities for our Basic members.  Now, instead of just having 1 simple way to view their stored charts, Basic members will have 7 - Summary view, 10-per-page view, MarketCarpet view, CandleGlance view, ChartBook view, Print view, and Edit view.  Now, instead of just being able to store 100 charts in their account, Basic members will be able to store 500 charts.  Instead of being limited to just 9 indicators per chart, Basic members will be able to have 25.  Instead of only having 2 ChartStyles, Basic members will be able to have up to 20.

Essentially, once Basic 2.0 is rolled out this weekend, Basic members will be able to do everything that our Extra members can do with the following exceptions:

  • Basic members are still limited to having only one ChartList.  Extra members can have up to 200.
  • Basic members are still limited to seeing only 10 Scan Results.  Extra members can see up to 999.
  • Basic members are still unable to create a Public ChartList.

(An additional side benefit of this change is that Extra members that want to downgrade to our Basic service will be able to do so without losing all of their charts and settings.  We will be allowing people that downgrade to transfer one of their ChartLists to their Basic account as part of the downgrade process.  Watch for more details on this capability next week.)

Again, all of these changes are free.  You don't need to do anything to activate these new capabilities.  They will just appear sometime this weekend.  We are not removing any capabilities that Basic members currently have.  We are just adding tons of new ones (for free!).

This is a very significant increase in value for our Basic members.  It took lots of hard work to get everything upgraded.  Hopefully these new features will help our Basic members continue to make better investing decisions based on our charts.

Wow, Chip, what great news - I'm going to love it. A lot of good things have been happening for me lately and this is another! I've been conscientiously removing charts I thought I might be able to manage without, whenever I reached 100 and wanted to add more, and now I won't have to be concerned at all. That's terrific and makes your past price increase more palatable. I usually don't use the other Basic benefits but I'm glad to hear there are improvements there too. Thank you!!! Delia Dunn
Chip... Thanks for the improvements. They are much appreciated and show your continued determination to remain #1. It would have been easy to sit back and just "let it roll" but you didn't do that. I've been with you for nearly 9 years and will continue, no question. The inclusion of Art Hill and John Murphy is an outstanding feature and also much appreciated. Keep it going! I love it! R. I'm 84 years old, have traded the markets for over 55 years, and never thought for a moment I would see anything like this. Congratulations for a most comprehensive service to your clients.
I miss having my charts categorized by alphabetical ticker symbol instead of page number. I have no idea what is on page 7 of my charts. I tried the Extra version in the past and ditched solely for this reason. Now I have to take shot in the dark as to which page I want to look at. Does anybody else think this is cubersome or am I missing something?
@Jim: We added the "hover" option to the page numbers for just this reason. Simply move your mouse over any of the page number links at the top of 10-per-page view to see the ticker symbols of the charts on that page. - Chip
